Library

Are electronic books available?

No, not at this time. The library does offer books on DVD. 

Does the Library have story time?

We do offer "Story Hour" for younger children on Mondays at 11:00am for children 5 and under.  Give the library a call (660-476-5513) for questions.   In the summer months the library offers a Summer Reading Program. .

When can I get my library card?

You will get your library card on your first visit. Appleton City residents receive their card free of charge, but there is an $8.00 fee per year for non-residents.

Does the library have computers available for public use?

The library has computers and a printer available for public use.

City Hall

What hours is City Hall open?

City Hall is open Monday thru Friday,

8:30am-12:30pm and 1:00pm-4:00pm

Ordinances

May I burn trash and leaves inside the city limits?

Section 210.553. Burning Prohibited Within Designated Fire Limits.

No person shall burn any shavings, straw, paper, wood, corrugated boxes, or any other combustible materials in any alley, street, or upon any private property at any place within the persently designated fire limits of the City of Appleton City, Missouri.

Note: The presently designated fire limits is along 4th street from Chestnut St. to Walnut, otherwise known as the "business district".

Application Process

I am interested in applying for a job with the City of Appleton City , what do I do?

You will need to fill out an application if available.  Please ensure you meet the qualifications for the position you wish to be considered for.  If you would like to include a resume, simply attach it to the completed application. You may mail or drop off the application at City Hall.  Interviews will be scheduled accordingly.

Does the City of Appleton City hire part time employees?

Yes, we do hire part time employees.  Availability of these positions will be posted here when available.

Sanitation & Recycling

When is the garbage collection day?

The garabage collection day for the entire town will be Thursdays. Remember to have your trash cart at the curb by 7:00 am. Remember, observed holidays will alter the normal routine.

Water Utilities

My bill is past due can I get an extension?

Per City Ordinance Section 700.080 Deliquent Water Bills.  If your bill is not paid by due date, a ten percent (10%) late fee will be assessed on all unpaid accounts on the 17th day of the month or the next business day if the 17th falls on a Saturday, Sunday, or a Holiday.  Service is subject to disconnection if not paid by the 27th of the month and an administrative fee of $50 plus the past due bill must be paid before reconnection.  If the 27th falls on a Saturday, Sunday, or Holiday, service will be disconnected on the next business day.

What do I do if I am experiencing low pressure?

Check your meter and the surrounding area for possible leaks. Next, call our office and report low pressure for your area.

Why do I have a previous balance when I know I sent in my payment?

We may have received it after the due date or we may not have received it at all. Call our office and we will help you solve the problem.

Why is my water discolored?

A repair could have been completed recently allowing air to enter the line, causing the milky look.
